Design a Viable Cycle Bridge for the Municipality of Deventer

Entrepreneurs and the municipality are actively seeking an appealing design for a cycle bridge over the Siemelinksweg in Deventer. A promising concept could motivate both parties to move forward with real commitment.

Problem Description

The broader aim is to develop a “roadmap” for the realisation of a cycle bridge across the Siemelinksweg in Deventer. This roadmap should outline the concrete steps the municipality can take to bring the project to life.

The municipality is seriously exploring the options, and local entrepreneurs are also keen to create better access for their cycling employees.

Should the assignment become more concrete—through discussions with both the municipality and entrepreneurs—the next step may include creating a preliminary design and developing multiple realisation scenarios.

Assignment Description

In consultation with stakeholders, the student will:

  • Map and analyse the current situation

  • Identify a preferred route from the entrepreneurs’ perspective

  • Produce a concept design

  • Chart the municipal decision-making process

  • Explore potential subsidies
