UT spin-off CodeSandbox receives 12,7 million dollars venture capital
Friends and former UT-students Bas Buursma (23) and Ives van Hoorne (23) received 11.7 million dollars from the Swedish investor EQT. Last year they received their first investment of more than 2 million from Kleiner Perkins. This second investment has been added to their company.
Investment for growth
The investment received by CodeSandbox is a ‘Series A Funding’ investment, also called seed-investment. The goal of this investment is to let new companies grow. CodeSandbox will be using this funding to keep making it easier for creators to build and share their ideas with code.
Working from the UT-campus
In a short amount of time, Bas and Ives grew bigger with their company. The door rooms they had one year ago at the UT-campus are exchanged for apartments in Amsterdam. However, you can still find them on the campus so and then working on their startup from Incubase. The investment received by CodeSandbox will be used for hiring new employees, in order to maintain their growth.
