Mini-campings

Holzik Stables is an equestrian complex where they practice the equestrian sport with respect to the horses. People can use the boarding house and horse-riding lessons, children’s parties, and horse coaching. The students researched the potential of starting a mini-campsite near the riding school for Holzik Stables. They used a competitor analysis and defined the current market of mini-campsites. Furthermore, they created a cost-benefit balance for the ideal concept.

Result

Gertjan Lutke Holzik, owner of Holzik Stables: “There were already plans for a nature camping, and I already conducted some calculations. The students further elaborated on these calculations and confirmed them. The overall picture has become more clear. We are almost certain that we will invest in the buildings needed for the camping. This will increase the revenue per square meter of the terrain immensely, and a future-proof operation is better guaranteed.”

Jury comments

“The students told a coherent story. They creatively used the CBS data concerning the number of visitors and occupancy rate at nature campings. Their investments- and operations budget was very realistic. It enhanced the opportunities of the initiative nicely. Furthermore, they could explain the story in a lively and enthusiastic manner. Even though one spokesperson took the lead, the other students grabbed their chance to answer the questions from the judges,” says jury member Egbert van Hattem. The jury consisted of Giljam Wartena, manager of the Rabobank, and Charlotte Slotman, director of Abbink Boekelo Wegenbouw.
