Are you aware of the security risks and do you know how to act?
The spoken language of the meetup cybersecurity is Dutch.
EVERY FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH: MEETUP CYBERSECURITY
Cyber incidents can have a huge impact on your organization. During the monthly Meetup Cybersecurity, we share knowledge and experiences to increase the cyber resilience of manufacturing companies. On Thursday, May 2nd, we will talk about the human side of information security: are employees sufficiently aware of security risks and do they know how to act?
INFORMATION SECURITY – AWARENESS AND APPROACH FOR EMPLOYEES
A fake e-mail, a wrong software update or a fake website: everyone has a risk of being hacked. No matter how well you protect yourself, when it comes to information security, human behavior is ultimately the weakest link. What seems? 90% of all data breach claims within organizations are caused by human error*. It is very important that we become aware of the risks and know how to handle information securely. But how do you achieve sustainable behavioral change within your company? When does the moment come when working safely and consciously is just as common as putting on your belt when you get in the car? You will learn everything about this at the meetup.
The speakers of this meetup:
- Marianne Junger is the chair of Cybersecurity and Business at the University of Twente. Marianne will tell everything about social engineering: an attack technique in which deception is used to let targets actively participate in their own victimhood. During the meetup, Marianne gives examples of experiments that have been carried out at the University of Twente to test the vulnerability of employees to social engineering. She also shows the effect of interventions that are intended to make people resilient against social engineering.
- Arthur Timmermans is co-founder and partner of Awareways, an organization that deals with the human side of information security. In collaboration with the University of Utrecht, Maarten has developed a research method to map the level of information awareness in organizations. This research has been conducted within a large number of companies and provides concrete insight into the behavior and culture with regard to information security. During the meetup, Maarten discusses the theory of the model, the insights and he makes you aware of the vulnerability and value of information and how to deal with this.
Afterwards, there is a possibility to network while enjoying a drink.
